Here is where you can download the 4-barrier-3-site model. This is a simple (basically single-screen) implementation of a 4-barrier-3-site Eyring rate theory model of an ion channel pore. The mathematical details behind this theory can be found in Begenisich and Cahalan, J. Physiol. 307:217 (1980). The basics are similar to those described in Hille and Schwarz, J. Gen. Physiol. 72:409 (1978). A more lengthy discussion of such models can be found in Bertil Hille's book, Ion Channels of Excitable Membranes (Sinauer Assoc., 2001).
